Afghan Academy School

 Objective

​

After the establishment of Afghan Academy in 1992, and in pursuant with the Academy’s mission and vision, the school was found the same year.

​

The Academy established the school to offer an opportunity to the future generations to study, pursue, and preserve the Islamic values and Afghan cultural heritage.

​

Strategy

​

In line with its objective, since inception, the school courses include teachings of the Holy Quran, Islamic Studies, and learning the Afghan national languages. The school opens and operates every Saturday, welcoming Afghan children of all ages. In order to preserve our traditional Afghan culture, the school strives to celebrate our religious and cultural holidays. We celebrate the two Eids, birthday of the Prophet (PBUH), Ashura, and other national holidays like Nowruz.

Activities

​

The Afghan Academy School, since establishment, has imparted Islamic education and the rich Afghan culture to hundreds of Afghan children. The school also prides itself in teaching courses in history, geography and the Afghan customs and traditions.

​

Over 200 Afghan children have graduated from  this school so far, and over 2,200 children have attended the school courses over the years.

​

Teachers

​

The Afghan Academy school has over 20 teachers disseminating knowledge to the Afghan students. These teachers work on voluntary basis. Their relentless efforts are awarded through the preservation of the Afghan culture in the future.

Curriculum

​

The school offers courses from kindergarten to 9th grade. Once again, all courses are offered on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM .

​

Holy Koran Recitation:

​

• Teaching of Holy Quran which covers:

  • Hadiths or sayings of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

  • Qirra'at or learning to recite Holy Quran with the right pronunciation and grace.

  • Memorization of Surahs (paragraphs or chapters of the Holy Quran).

Islamic Education:​

​

• Interpretation of the Holy Koran.

• Hadiths or sayings of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).

• Life and character of the Prophet (PBUH).

• Theology and religious jurisprudence.

Culture and National Languages:

​

• Teaching of Dari and Pashto from kindergarten to 9th grade.

• Teaching the geography, history, customs, and traditions of Afghanistan.
